Regulations of the Department of Student Career Development, Sports, and Culture

Chapter I. General Provisions

Article 1. General Provisions

  1. This Statute defines the legal status, structure, authority, and regulates other issues related to the activities of the Department of Career Development, Sports, and Culture for Students (hereinafter – the Department) of LEPL – Georgian State University of Sports (hereinafter – the University).
  2. The Department is a structural unit of the University, which, in its activities, is guided by the legislation of Georgia, the Law of Georgia “On Higher Education,” the internal legal acts of the University, this Statute, and other legislative and sub-legislative normative acts.
  3. The Department’s activities are based on continuous coordinated work with various structures of the University.
  4. The Department is accountable to the Rector and the Head of Administration of the University and carries out their instructions and assignments.


Chapter II. Purpose, Objectives, and Functions of the Department’s Activities

Article 2. Main Purpose of the Department’s Activities

  • To ensure the effective planning and management of activities related to sports and culture at the University, with the active involvement of the University’s students, staff, and interested parties in these activities;
  • To assist students in developing and improving the general and practical skills necessary for employment.


Article 3. Main Objectives of the Department’s Activities

  • Caring for the career development of students and graduates, and facilitating their employment;
  • Effective planning and management of activities related to sports and culture at the University;
  • Engaging students in the cycle of continuous education and assisting them;
  • Maintaining an electronic database of graduates.


Article 4. Main Functions of the Department

  • Researching the employment rates of students and graduates and sharing relevant vacancies/recommendations with them based on their profiles;
  • Organising trainings/workshops/employment forums that will help students and graduates in the job search process;
  • Organising the involvement of students and graduates in internships, practical placements, and projects;
  • Assisting students and graduates in professional orientation and self-determination, in defining priorities, and in properly planning their education and career;
  • Assisting students and graduates in their relationships with employers and, for this purpose, planning/conducting specific thematic events;
  • Conducting a quantitative and qualitative analysis of vacancies available on employment websites;
  • Ensuring the participation of students in university life, sports, cultural, and creative processes;
  • Promoting a healthy lifestyle, planning and holding sports activities in active cooperation with various federations;
  • Carrying out informational events and organising meetings with well-known public figures;
  • Establishing clubs for students and graduates in various fields;
  • Ensuring the active involvement of university staff in student days and other activities.



Chapter III. Structure and Leadership of the Department

Article 5. Department Structure

  1. The Department is a management body of the University, led by the Head of the Department.
  2. The positions provided for by the University’s штатное расписание are: Head of Department, Deputy Head of Department, Senior Specialist, Chief Specialist, and Specialist.
  3. The Department is headed by the Head, who is appointed and dismissed by the University’s Head of Administration in agreement with the Rector.
  4. Department employees are appointed and dismissed by the University’s Head of Administration in agreement with the Rector, upon the recommendation of the Head of the Department. They are accountable to the Head of the Department.
  5. In the temporary absence of the Head of the Department (vacation, business trip, illness, temporary absence for more than 2 days), as well as in the case of a specific assignment from the Head of the Department, the duties are performed by the Deputy Head of the Department.


Article 6. Head of the Department

  1. The Head of the Department:
    • Manages and directs the activities of the Department;
    • Distributes functions among the Department’s employees, giving them relevant instructions and assignments;
    • Is responsible for the fulfillment of the functions and objectives assigned to the Department;
    • Controls the performance of functions by the Department’s employees;
    • Periodically listens to the reports of the Department’s employees on the work they have performed;
    • Conducts performance evaluations of subordinate employees;
    • Endorses the documents prepared in the Department within the scope of their competence;
    • Submits an annual report on the Department’s activities to the University’s Rector and Head of Administration;
    • Submits recommendations and proposals to the University’s Head of Administration regarding the encouragement or disciplinary responsibility of the Department’s employees;
    • Mediates on the professional development and retraining of the Department’s employees;
    • Carries out the instructions of the Rector and the Head of Administration within the scope of the competence defined by this Statute.
  2. The Deputy Head of the Department:
    • Together with the Head of the Department, defines the Department’s action plan;
    • Together with the Head of the Department, reviews the objectives and program directions defined by the Statute;
    • Conducts performance evaluations of subordinate employees;
    • Participates in the planning of student career development, sports, and creative events;
    • Within the scope of their competence, monitors the work performed by the Department’s employees.
  3. The Senior Specialist, Chief Specialist, and Specialist:
    • The rights/obligations and functions of the Senior, Chief, Senior Specialist and Specialist are defined by employment contracts and job descriptions.



Chapter IV. Concluding Provisions

Article 7. Procedure for Introducing Amendments and Additions to the Statute

Amendments and additions to the Statute are introduced in accordance with the procedure established by the legislation in force in Georgia.

Article 8. Reorganization and Liquidation of the Service

The reorganization and liquidation of the Department are carried out in accordance with the procedure established by the legislation in force in Georgia.
