Instruction for Preparation, Defense and Evaluation of the Master’s Thesis

Article 1. General Provisions
1.1. This instruction defines the general rules for preparation, defense and evaluation of the Master’s thesis as a research component of the Master’s educational programs at the University.
1.2. The Master’s thesis is a research work prepared during the 4th semester and presented for public defense at an open session of the Defense Commission.
1.3. The thesis reflects the student’s level of knowledge, competence in the chosen field, as well as research and creative skills in accordance with the program requirements.
1.4. Preconditions for admission to thesis defense are specified in the curriculum of each program.
Article 2. Procedures for Selecting and Approving the Thesis Topic
2.1. Based on research interests, the student selects a supervisor. Upon agreement, a working title is formulated jointly.
2.2. The thesis must address a relevant issue and clearly demonstrate research elements.
2.3. The program head submits the working title and supervisor to the Dean no later than the first week of the IV semester.
Note: By the end of week 7, the supervisor submits final versions of the titles to the Dean’s office.
2.4. The Faculty Council approves the topic upon submission by the program head(s), no later than the second week of the lecture period defined by the academic calendar.
Article 3. Thesis Supervisor
3.1. The supervisor may be:
a) Academic staff of the University;
b) An invited specialist holding at least a Master’s degree.
Article 4. Responsibilities of the Supervisor
4.1. The supervisor shall:
a) Provide scientific supervision and methodological guidance;
b) Conduct regular consultations;
c) Monitor academic style and structure;
d) Ensure plagiarism prevention and academic integrity;
e) Assist with planning and deadlines;
f) Conduct preliminary evaluation and recommend improvements;
g) Prepare the student for defense and presentation;
h) Ensure compliance with university regulations and ethics;
i) Encourage conference participation and publications.
