Article Evaluation Procedure

The international scientific journal “Innovations in Sports Science and Health” attaches great importance to an objective and high-quality review process, which determines the scientific value and reliability of the works published in the journal.

Please note the following recommendations and standards that ensure an ethical and academically sound review process:


Review Format
The reviewer is given a manuscript that has been checked for plagiarism.

The Editorial Board selects two independent reviewers who are researchers, experts, and have specific experience in the subject matter of the article.

The article evaluation process is administered by the Editorial Board under the leadership of the Editor-in-Chief.

Each article is evaluated by two reviewers. The reviewer(s) are selected by the decision of the Editorial Board. Each article is evaluated by two independent reviewers.

The journal uses a double-blind peer review system, which means that neither the author knows the identity of the reviewer nor does the reviewer have information about the author, which ensures impartiality and objectivity of the evaluation.


Main responsibilities of a reviewer

  • To objectively evaluate the submitted work, both in terms of its content and methodology;
  • To assess the relevance of the research to the journal’s topic and scientific level;
  • To indicate the strengths and weaknesses of the work and, if necessary, to make recommendations for improving the work;
  • To protect confidentiality and not disclose information provided by the author before publication;
  • To refrain from reviewing if there is a conflict of interest (e.g., academic, financial, personal relationships with the author);


Evaluation Criteria
The review is based on the following areas:

  • Originality of the work – novelty of the research and contribution to the analysis and development of the field;
  • Scientific accuracy – clear objectives, correct methodology, relevance of analysis and conclusions;
  • Data and data interpretation – reliability of data, transparency and substantiated interpretation;
  • Recommendations – logical connection of recommendations with the analysis of the text and ways to solve the problem posed
  • Structure and writing style – academic logic, linguistic accuracy and fluency, appropriate terminological accuracy;
  • References – diversity of bibliography and relevance to the current discourse in the field.


After evaluating the paper, the reviewer must submit a final recommendation to the Editorial Board regarding the publication of the paper:

  1. The paper is accepted for publication;
  2. Accepted with minor corrections;
  3. The paper will be re-evaluated after significant corrections;
  4. The paper is not accepted for publication.

For each response, detailed comments will be provided regarding the decision made.

If the paper receives one positive and one negative evaluation, the paper will be sent to a third reviewer for evaluation. The final decision on publication is made by the editorial board.


Deadlines for evaluation and publication of the work
The international scientific journal “Innovations in Sports Science and Health” is published twice a year in both electronic and printed form.

The reviewer’s evaluation is sent to the author no later than 3 months after the article is received. If an additional reviewer is needed, the final evaluation will be carried out within a reasonable period of time.

Reviewers are considered reliable and valuable scientific companions of the journal.

Reviewers will receive a certificate of review from the editorial board. The certificate is signed by the editor-in-chief.

The acceptance of the article will be announced in winter and autumn.

A special issue of the journal may be dedicated to conference, symposium, etc. papers, which may be published At any time of the year. A special edition may be published under the supervision of an invited editor from another institution or organization as part of a joint event. Within the framework of a special edition, the scientific work undergoes the same review process. This is noted with a special note on the cover of the journal in both the printed and electronic versions.

In order to ensure transparency of processes and exclude conflicts of interest, if the editor-in-chief publishes an article in the same journal, he/she, at the meeting of the editorial board, raises the issue of temporarily transferring his/her authority to another member and does not participate in the administration process of the current publication and temporarily transfers his/her authority to one of the members of the editorial board. This is formalized in the minutes of the editorial board.

A member of the editorial board who publishes an article in the same journal does not participate in the editorial processes of the current publication.
